The count down is on for this Saturday's tournament @ St. George's Park, Burton-on-Trent.
Below is hopefully all the information you will need for the day. We wish you & your team good luck and hope that everyone has a great tournament!
Schedule for the day
Arrival & Registration 9.00am
Welcome and warm up session 9.30am
Group stage games start 10.00am
Final approx. 1.30pm
Presentation approx. 2pm
Social gathering at the Hilton bar 2.15pm – 4pm
Arrival from 9am
Please enter St. George's Park through the main entrance and follow signs to the Sir Alf Ramsey pitch. Free parking is available on site.
Male & female changing rooms will be clearly signposted and will be available for players to use from 9am. (Please note, anything left in the changing rooms is done so at your own risk).
Welcome & group warm up at 9.30am
As in previous years we will be asking teams to parade onto the pitch (walking onto the pitch as a team) and gather in a semi-circle for the welcome & group warmup. Please ensure you are in kit for this. Games will commence shortly after.
The Shield & The Trophy
There will be two leagues, with twelve teams playing for the Shield and 12 teams playing for the Trophy.
Number of matches
All teams will play a minimum of 6 matches, with the group games being 10mins long and the play-off, semi-final and final being a duration of 14mins.
Penalties
For the semi-final and final, in the event of a draw, there will be 3 penalties and then sudden death penalties.
The finals & medals ceremony
We hope everyone can stay and support the teams who make it through to the finals. The medals ceremony will take place promptly after the finals. Please form a semi-circle (with a front & back row) on the pitch for the medal’s ceremony - your captains will direct you.
At the end of the tournament
Please ensure all rubbish is removed. Any lost property, please hand it in to the Event Organiser's desk.
After the tournament - Invite
Sport Parkinson's would like you all to come over to the Hilton Hotel Bar for a celebration of what we have achieved, and to socialise with the community.
Filming & photography
We will be filming and taking photographs at the tournament. If you do not want to be included in any of the footage or photographs, please email to let us know - garen@sportparkinsons.org
Medical forms
As team captains, please ensure you have completed the attached medical form (one form per team) before the tournament. Please bring this form with you to the tournament and hand it in at the Event Organiser's desk on arrival at 9am.
First aid
We have St. John's Ambulance at the tournament this year.
Spectator toilets
These can be found outside the main entrance.
Catering
There will be a catering van outside the main entrance offering a selection of hot & cold drinks and well as snacks for breakfast & lunch. Please bring cash to purchase items from the catering van (at the time of sending this email it is unclear if they also take cards payments).
Scouting for national teams
Stuart Carrington, PD England Team Manager will be in attendance and scouting for new talent! Good luck everyone!
What to wear & bring with you
• 3G appropriate trainers or boots • A breathable shirt • Breathable shorts • Shin pads • Football socks • Drinking water • Completed medical form • Clothing for warm & cold weather (it can be very cold on the indoor pitch).
Walking Football - Rules of the game
• Any running or jogging will usually result in an indirect free kick • Non-contact • Above head height restriction on ball • Deflection above head height by goalkeeper – ball retained by keeper • No heading the ball • All free kicks indirect • No off sides • No tackling from behind • No direct goal from kick-off or any dead ball situation • All free kicks have defenders 3-metres distant • Players may not play the ball whilst grounded – to include slide tackling and slide blocks • Cornering a player is not permitted – allow opponent to turn • No 2 versus 1 tackling at barriers/wall • No tackling across an opponent at a wall/barrier • Playing with reckless or dangerous intent is an infringement • One metre penalty kicks • No restriction on passing back or out from the goalkeeper • Sin Bin time out for three either same or different infringements • Zero tolerance on abusive conduct
